How to submit a written request to the Texas Funeral Service Commission (TFSC)

Submit a request

Under Texas Government Code § 552.234, TFSC has designated one mailing address and one email address for receiving written requests under the Texas Public Information Act (Texas Government Code, Chapter 552). Submit your request in writing by hand delivery, mail, or email to the Public Information Officer using the contact information below.

Important: Requests sent to any email address or staff member other than the Public Information Officer at the designated address above—including individual employee addresses, general inquiry inboxes, or social media accounts—will not be treated as requests under the Public Information Act and will not receive a response. Telephone requests will not receive a response. Only written requests properly submitted to the Public Information Officer trigger TFSC’s obligations under the Act.

This notice does not waive any exception to disclosure, any right to seek an Attorney General decision, or any cost-recovery right under Subchapter F, Chapter 552.

Mailing list requests

The Texas Funeral Service Commission accepts requests for its mailing list only through the Mailing List Order Form. The mailing list cost is $35.

Before submitting a request

A public information request should identify documents or other information that already exists. TFSC is not required to answer questions, perform legal research, or comply with a continuing request for information to be created or supplied periodically in the future.

Information concerning complaints under investigation is confidential by law and will not be released.

Confidential applicant and licensee information

Effective September 1, 2023, Texas Government Code § 552.11765 makes the following information about an applicant or a current or former licensee confidential and excepted from disclosure under the Public Information Act:

• license applications;
• home address and telephone number;
• email address;
• Social Security number;
• date of birth;
• driver’s license or state identification number;
• passport number;
• emergency contact information; and
• payment information.
